2008 Wine Classes

nternational Wine Center is the U.S. headquarters for the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET®), the world's premier wine educational organization. International Wine Center students can earn official WSET credentials - Intermediate Certificate, Advanced Certificate, and Diploma. All instructors hold the WSET Diploma. WSET programs are the recommended preparatory study for Master of Wine candidates.

2008 Fall Schedule

The Levels
The WSET classes are a progression, beginning with Intermediate Certificate, followed by Advanced Certificate, and Diploma. Each level covers the entire world of wine by geographical region—including viticulture, vinification, and appellation labeling laws—and also covers wine-tasting technique.

The Advanced Certificate is a strict prerequisite for the Diploma Program.

How to Register
Advance payment is required for all programs. Register by telephone or FAX with American Express, VISA or MasterCard; call (212) 239-3055, or FAX (212) 239-3051. You may also send a check to International Wine Center (350 7th Ave Suite 1201, New York, NY 10001). As a courtesy to wine businesses, we will invoice those companies that have established credit with us.

Refunds
  • If you cancel your place before the course begins you will receive a refund of the class fee, less a 10% cancellation fee. If we have sent out the materials kit to you, you must return it, complete and unused, in order to receive full credit. Registration and shipping fees are not refundable.
  • If you cancel after the class begins, no refunds apply. However, your registration is fully transferable to another person for the same course and session, subject to qualification. If you miss a class, you are welcome to make-up the class next term.

Home Study
If you live and work outside of the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut metropolitan area, you may study for all levels through independent home study. Go to the Home Study page for additional information explaining Home Study costs and procedures. If you have questions about Home Study, please call us at International Wine Center, (212) 239-3055.

Time of Classes
All classes begin at 6 p.m. Intermediate Certificate classes run from 6 to 8 p.m.; Advanced Certificate classes run until 8:30 p.m., and Diploma classes run until 8:30 or 9 p.m., depending on the topic.

Make-Up Examination Dates
If you are not able to take your Intermediate or Advanced Certificate examination on the scheduled date, you may participate in the next scheduled exam, space permitting (the exam dates are listed in the class schedules); unless you give us 15 Business Days notice that you will not sit the exam on your original date, additional fees apply. If you want to arrange for a private make-up exam at another time, proctor fees apply in addition to any exam fees. Please call or email us for more information. You can refer to the exam dates listed in the class schedule.

You must reserve a seat for any regularly-scheduled examination by notifying International Wine Center at least 15 Business Days before the date you plan to take the exam.
